When you become a member of First Parish Bridgewater, you are joining a spiritual community. Members support the church and its programs by taking an active role in congregational life, and making financial contributions annually.
We acknowledge that choosing a spiritual home for your family is a big decision, and there is no rush to join the church. Membership demonstrates your commitment to our shared UU values and the First Parish community. Before you join, you are encouraged to become a regular at our Sunday services, speak with our Minister about community involvement, and attend a “Your UU Journey” class.
There are many benefits to membership, including:
- Belonging to a spiritual community that builds deep relationships based on shared values.
- Pastoral care and support during difficult times.
- Spiritual and personal development, for both adults and young people.
- Opportunities for involvement in activism through our Social Justice Committee, Peace Committee, the Green Sanctuary team, our prison ministry, and through involvement with our other community partners.
- Eligibility to serve in leadership positions and vote at congregational meetings.
- Ministerial and church support for child dedications, weddings, funerals, memorial services, and other rites of passage.
- A subscription to the bi-monthy magazine UU World.
Rev. Rosemary hosts “Your UU Journey: A Class for Newer Members and Those New to Unitarian Universalism” throughout the church year. Those considering membership are encouraged to join the class before “signing the book”. This class is relaxed, conversational, and centered around participant questions. So join us and ask away! Please reach out to her to see when the next session is scheduled if you:
- Are new to Unitarian Universalism, or returning after some time away
- Are curious to learn more about our faith tradition and its history
- Want to explore our faith Values and our congregation’s covenant,
- Recently became a member and want to build more connections in this community
- Wonder if First Parish could be your faith home
